UPDATED APRIL 2025
In the spirit of honesty this week was tough for me, I had a deadline to meet, fundraising to do and I was ill. yup ill. I was planning on doing a cake sale during varsity Saturday 4th May (May the fourth be with you hahah). One of the requirements I was told to complete before going to S Africa was to call up my fundraising adviser and discuss ways to fundraise my £800 target, this was done one Tuesday.
I began to panic as I realised that June was next month NEXT MONTH.!. I am going next month and I am no where near my fundraising target. So I started making plans for the cake sale, I asked for help from a brilliant cook/baker I know and began listing things etc.
I was too sick to bake and when I thought this was going to fail I crawled back to bed crying and upset about my lack of progress and fell asleep. I later woke feeling a bit better, and decided to go downstairs to see my friends and to my surprise all my friends were baking for me. I could not believe it. I was overly happy, I did not expect anyone to go out of their way on a Friday night to bake for me. It is a big thing to ask people who you have known for a short while to do such a thing but having lived with them for 8 months I was happy. I was full of joy to know that at the end of the day I have people who have my back. I am forever grateful. They are the best people honestly.
The next day varsity, everyone helped sell the cakes, it was hard getting donations as students are financially strapped but they eventually donated and bought cakes for 50p. We expected to make just under £50 but people donated £1-£20!!!! And we made £97.98 all together! That's nearly double.

I feel warmth thinking back to Saturday and am really grateful. I can't describe the feeling but having people do such for you is very special and I will always carry that feeling with me. THANK YOU GUYS!!!
Total raised so far £174.98
Thanks to all that helped and donated.
