2 Books to help you change your habits.

Do you ever find yourself doing something, not fully conscious that you are doing it? Well, you are not alone. Many of us find that we have little habits that we have picked up along the way and these habits are either good or bad for us but we hardly ever h. Embarking on my personal growth journey I sought out resources that would help me overcome some of the pitfalls of bad habits and these two books helped lay a foundation on which I could rebuild my life. I hope they help you achieve whatever it is that you so desire just as they helped me.

Atomic Habits: An Easy and Proven Way to Build Good Habits and Break Bad Ones by James Clear.

I first discovered Atomic Habits through the world of YouTube self help gurus's who swore by the philosophy shared by James Clear. When doing some introspection I realised that over the years I had formed some questionable habits subconsciously and found sticking to new positive habits difficult, hence I went on a journey to find out just how I could effectively change my habits to build my new self.

James Clear in Atomic Habits touches on the idea that in order for one to change they need to implement small changes. He suggests that if one is to successfully alter their way of life, it all begins with minuscule decisions that are framed within 4 laws; 1. Make It Obvious. 2. Make It Attractive. 3. Make It Easy. 4. Make It Satisfying.

This book is an easy read, I found it quite enjoyable and the lessons quite easy to follow. For example the idea of habit stacking was easy to implement into my fitness life. I now have found it easier to get back from work, change out of my work clothes and go work out just by creating my own habit stacking ritual. I highly recommend this book as it will give you insight into what you can do easily in order to form new habits, break old ones and change your life one step at a time.

The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work and Confidence With Everyday Courage by Mel Robbins.

Indecision is the devil that tends to get in the way of our productive lives. Every now and then we struggle to do the most simple of things and we get frustrated only to give up. Mel Robbins in the 5 Second Rule helps us overcome the mindset that stops us from doing things that we really want to do. The 5 Second Rule is a rule that aims to help you make decisions and carry them out right there and then, helping us overcome anxiety and indecision. I read this book when I was struggling to make the smallest of decisions, it helped me create a consistent workout routine, where if I find myself getting lazy all I do is 5,4,3,2, and stick to the routine I had set out. This little trick resets your mind and chips away at the many thoughts that cross our mind, often inhibiting us from doing what we want to do.

Mel Robbins uses everyday peoples stories as examples on how we can apply the rule to our own personal lives and shows us how easy making a decision really can be. The 5 Second Rule is great for those struggling with their mental health or those who find themselves in a rut. I highly recommend.
